Hard to believe its that time of the year again when you have to consider what your customer wants next year. Crazy right.
However I always look forward to my buying trip to London with great enthusiasm and excitement as I anticipate what the Brands are going to showcase in terms of styles and trends for the year ahead.
First thing to organise is where to stay. We have never stayed in the same place twice. We love to see all the different areas when we go to London so i always use Trivago to help find the best deal. We found a great deal for a fabulous new 5 Star Hotel just recently opened in Central London - The Ned
Wow, what can I say about The Ned. Fabulous. Live jazz band in the lobby, eight restaurants, roof top pool. We celebrated our wedding anniversary while we were there and the hotel made us feel so special. I almost forgot I was in London to work.
The brands we buy in London for our kidswear boys and girls clothing departments are Tommy Hilfiger, No Added Sugar, Hucklebones, Antony Morato, Scotch Shrunk, Guess, Byblos and Relish and let me assure you its certainly no holiday.
Hardwork and stamina are required and I couldnt do it without my Oyster card (and without Gerard of course). I would advise anyone travelling in London to get themselves one of these as it is the easiest, most cost efficient way to get around London.
First stop was with Vida kids who represent the brands Hucklebones, Antony Morato, No Added Sugar. Hucklebones is a luxury occasionwear brand for girls age 2-10 and I absolutley love it. DIGG Childrenswear is the only stockist in Ireland and we have customers who travel from all over the country to buy this brand from our store. If you want your little girl to stand out from the crowd then this is the brand for you. Spring Summer 18 is even more fabulous than I could have imagined.
Antony Morato is a brand which is relatively new to DIGG Childrenswear but it is a brand that I am so excited to now be showcasing in our store as it allows liitle boys to dress like little men in the most smart and sophisticated way. Mustard and navy was certainly a theme which ran through my buying strategy for this brand and I know it is going to be a big hit for boys for Communion and Confirmation wear next season.
After visiting Vida Kids we made our way across London to our next buying appointment, grabbing a quick lunch from EAT. We always eat here as it is so tasty, inexpensive and quick which is exactly what we need when we are buying.
Relish & Byblos did not disappoint allowing us to choose fabulous pieces for girls from age 8-16 years. This is definetly a harder age to buy for as girls this age know their own minds and want to look more grown up than their kid sister. I have to bear this in mind when I am choosing the pieces and try to think of what girls want to wear to weddings, confirmations and partys. Believe me its not easy.
Tommy Hilfiger was our next port of call and Tommy is always exquisite. They greeted us with cappuccinos and carrot cake and boy did we need it after a busy day. While we enjoyed our much needed refreshments the new interactive digital system guided us through the trends for next season for girlswear and boyswear. This was my favourite outfit for girls age 8 -16 years and I just know its going to be a major hit with al the girls for Confirmationwear.
Our fabulous hotel room was calling but first Gerard felt he deserved a steak after all his hard work . Ha Ha. So we visited an old favourite of ours Steak and Co which is bang in the middle of the West End. I would highly recommend this restuarant for all steak lovers. Such a great atmosphere, fabulous service and the tastiest steak I have ever had. Needless to say there were no nightclubs for us as we got a quick night cap and shower before hitting the pillow as a busy day lay ahead.
Our Final appointment with Guess kidswear is always one of my personal favourites.
I get so excited when I see all the little Guess clothes especially the Guess girlswear as they are miniature versions of the ladies. How cool is that, mum and daughter can dress the same. I just had to do a facebook live to show all my followers just what to expect next season from Guess
On leaving the Guess showroom I really was buzzing for what lay ahead for DIGG Childrenswear and how I was now confident that we could continue to offer the most stylish on trend clothes for boys and girls for all occasions especially, first holy communion, Confirmations, weddings and much more.
